Kitchen Stove?

Yesterday I had someone look at my house.  My realtor showed him around and then gave me a call afterwards.  He said the gentleman liked everything except the placement of the kitchen stove.  The gentleman (a Chinese man) told my realtor he was superstitious about having the stove face the front door (even though it's in another part of the house).  I couldn't believe it.  I'd never heard of such of thing!  I called a friend to tell him about it and he suggested it was probably feng shui.  Sure enough.  I did some searching on the internet and according to feng shui practice my stove is in the wrong place!  Stoves are an integral part of the kitchen arrangement in feng shui.

I've been thinking about this since yesterday.  What keeps crossing my mind is the bondage that this gentleman is in.  He finds a house that he likes but can't buy it because of his concern that the stove may interfere with receiving "positive qi."  I am not upset at this gentleman for not buying my house.  I am upset at the Enemy for the deception.  The gentleman preferred to call it superstition, but it's bondage.  Any form of superstition is flat out bondage.  Being the master of disguise, I know Satan is all over it.

I will pray for this gentleman to find the freedom that only comes from Jesus Christ.  (Galatians 5:1)  It is the most free life ever!

  1. Sorry the man didn't buy your house, but I disagree that he is in bondage. While your faith is admorable and I share it in some respects, the fact that someone doesn't share the same beliefs does not mean they are controlled by Satan or in bondage. In contrast, the majority of the world follows different faiths and this man is probably wondering why on earth you would place a stove facing the front door. Indeed, he may even be a Christian. Maybe Jesus would never have placed a stove facing the front door.

  2. Dave,
I feel anyone following feng shui to the point that they wouldn't buy a house because of the stove placement is in bondage. Further study reveals they don't want the cook to be surprised from behind for fear of angering the chef and having negative energy passed into the food. This is an irrational fear, otherwise known as bondage. Admittedly, I have irrational fears and bondage that I need help with. I welcome someone to show me. I believe Christ is the only answer by helping us see the truth (through Scripture, the Holy Spirit, and the people in our lives). Our life in Christ is free, not bound. The fact is we are not under Law anymore, we are under grace. (Romans 6:14) Christ came to set us free of the Law. Living under grace means we can do whatever we want as long as it doesn't cause us to sin.

It would be entirely different if he just said, "I don't like where the stove is placed." That would be a matter of personal preference. But the fact that he said he is superstitious about it reveals that his practice of feng shui is controlling him.

  3. The problem with you analysis is that it is based on a difference of opinion. While you may consider allegience to feng shui philosphies as bondage, a follower of feng shui (or even Christianity or Budism or Islam) may find that your belief in a man born of a virgin (so far medically impossible) and resurrected from the dead after three days (no other medical or historical reference to such an event) is pretty irrational. My point is that faith is irrational and not something that can be proven. While your faith is impressive, I think the faith of your would be purchaser is also impressive, albeit different from yours. The mere fact that something is different doesn't mean that it is bondage or the creature of satan. Chirstianity has only been around for 2000 years. Any idea on the longevity of feng shui? Further research suggest 3500 plus years. I suppose they have both sustained the test of time. What has also sustained the test of time is the conflict that has arisen from one group refusing to accept that another's way of life is different from their own. Although I may share some of your beliefs, others find life in things other than Christ. I don't believe that they will all be in chains at the end of the day.

  5. You are correct, this is a form of bondage, and the enemy is a master of disguise and deceipt. God will bring the right person into your life to buy your home, and at just the right time. Amen!
