Spiritual dryness comes out of nowhere sometimes. Lately I've been a bit dry. Ya know, not wanting to read the Word, little prayer, just hum-drum spiritually. I never see it coming on, but when it does. . .wham! Anyway, I'm not 100% sure, but I think a significant part of it is selfishness. Me + Me + Me = spiritual dryness. By God's grace He will fill me up. I know dryness is only for a season and the rain will come soon! God is faithful. In the meantime, I can't give up doing what I know to do. -And a significant part of that is simply "being still and knowing that He is God" (Psalm 46:10).

Dear Grant,
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you could cook! That’s awesome.
I'm kind of new to this blog but I'm so glad I found it. It makes for a good devotional. I know that I'm not the best on this subject but I'm going to give it a go. Whenever I'm feeling dry, alone or just plain down usually it’s not because I'm just thinking of me+me+me. It’s usually because I haven't taken the time to find some good godly friends to challenge and encourage me in God. "Iron sharpens iron" you need to be sharpened. Without it we become dull for Gods use it doesn’t mean were bad. It just means were not getting filled up as fast as were giving out. When I get to that place I have to scope up my Bible and find some friends to pray with me. I love that scripture by the way and hope that these encourage you they are some of my favorites. (You don't have to read them if you don't want to).
"Isaiah40:28-31, Psalms37:23-24, Psalms37:45,
Prov.29:78, 1 Peter5:7, Mark10:27, Romans8:28"
I will be praying that God gives you encouragement and helps you feel renewed in his strength. God bless!
