"I love Rocky Road ice cream"
"Going to see Avatar"
"Sitting behind a guy with a really shiny bald spot"
These are the sort of comments I see on Facebook. Come on, Christians! Facebook is an amazing tool at our fingertips. Like all the other forms of social media out there they are tools. A tool can be used for good or bad. As Christians we should be using these tools as leverage to further His Kingdom. Let's face it, the Enemy's certainly using it. Lift your eternal voice by posting edifying, encouraging, and God glorifying messages for a change, not what you ate for breakfast. :)

Dear Grant
ReplyDeleteI agree completely, from my experience Facebook is just another way hurt or misunderstand people. There have been many times when I've wondered if modern technology is really such an improvement. As a child all things were hand written and if you wanted to talk to someone you did it to their face. Telephones seemed only for emergencies and always seemed to bring bad news (that might explain why I'm so uncomfortable talking on them now, lol.) Don't get me wrong I mean everyone’s different and I don't judge anyone who does it, I mean after all I'm using a computer to write this, so you might just say that I’m a little old fashioned for my age. I mean I’m not against modern technology if people just handled it right. It’s when people start using it as a tool to hurt others that I say "If you can't say something nice don't say it at all."(If anyone doesn't know that line it’s from the Disney Bambi lol).
Seriously though it seems to me and I have to wonder how many others feel this way but who wouldn’t rather receive a hand written letter in the mail. A Hand written letter tells you that the person cared enough about you that they took the time to sit down and send you a piece of their hart. It’s between just the two of you and not the whole world of saber space.
A friend once explained to me that though she would love to do this she was too embarrassed of her handwriting and spelling. I told her that even if you have bad hand writing its ok it only means more to the person who receives it. A few days later I got a letter the blessing was even more special then I had imagined. To me it not only meant that I was important to her it meant that she was willing to put down pride for the sake of our friendship.
Well I’m sorry I wrote such a long note I didn’t mean to go off like that. I hope that maybe this challenges or blesses someone and that I haven’t put you all to sleep with my ramblings. Thanks again Grant for the wonderful words of wisdom. God bless.
