Seminary Update

Here's a quick update on seminary. So far, so good with my classes at DTS.  Surprisingly, I have yet to take a test :)  (That may be why I have received three A's in my classes!)  I know that tests are looming right around the corner, but so far it's been lots of reading, watching videos, and writing papers.  The amount of reading has presented the heaviest work-load.  A 100 page assignment is typical and a bit overwhelming , especially when I am staring at words I don't understand entirely (see Big Words).  The key is to just keep pushing through.

My favorite course so far has been Spiritual Life.  It was an eye-opener to some personal spiritual issues.  For example, I learned a great deal about myself and how I view grace.  Oftentimes I have difficulty accepting it and extending it.  Yes, eye-opening indeed!  I also gained much insight on how good habits don't just happen out of no-where, they are developed out of discipline.  Overall, it has been a rewarding experience so far at DTS.

One thing is certain about the future - it is coming :)  Beyond that, I don't know much other than God will work out the details.  I took a trip to Kansas City last week to check out Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  It is much less expensive than DTS.  They also have a music program.  DTS does not.  Another benefit is that I would be close to my parents.  It is a small school, but solid and growing.  It was a nice visit.  Thanks, Mom for great company :)

Whether to KC or Dallas, moving would be difficult.  The Lord has revealed so many things I have to be thankful for here in Oklahoma.  Friends, church, job, house, etc.  It mostly comes down to the people here.  It's really true.  OK people are okay....hee haw.  But seriously, I am not taking anything for granted here.  I know it is where I am suppose to be for now and trusting the Lord to make things crystal clear down the road.  In the meantime, I am enjoying life here while taking online class.

On that note, over the holidays I noticed how relaxed and relieved I was to have a break from school.  School tends to stress me sometimes.  This semester would be my first spring trying to balance school with storm season at work.  Things might get interesting :-0  So yes, I have considered taking this semester off.  My online class offers a one week trial before a full refund.  This week I am testing the waters in Old Testament History to evaluate the kind of work load I will have once those tornadoes start dropping from the sky.  Please pray for peace and clarity to make the right decision and not get overloaded.  -I don't want to short circuit :-)
