Only God Can...

In one of my classes we've been discussing the omnipotence of God. Omnipotence is a fancy word for "all powerful" or "unlimited power." During lecture my prof gave us three specific examples of God demonstrating His omnipotence:

- Creation of Earth
- Resurrection of Jesus
- Humbles the proud

The first two were obvious to me. The third, however, caught me by surprise. But oh how true it is. Not at all to diminish the other two, but God's ability to make the proud man humble blows me away. Humbling the proud is nothing we can do on our own. We certainly try though. Oh how many times we try to put others in their place. Or worse, we elevate ourselves in an attempt to "humble" them. Seriously though, it's something only God can do. He humbles the proud His way, not ours; on His timing, not ours. It's nothing short of miraculous.

Such a sweet melody to the soul when the proud man is humbled to a place of complete dependence on God. It's beautiful to witness and even more amazing to experience. I should know. I've been that man many times.

  1. Humility is a very important aspect to life. Its always hard to be humble and its one of the touchy subjects most people try to avoid. Many are to proud to admitt wrong, or they are prideful in thinking they should show you, your wrong. "Judge not lest ye be judged" is constently quoted. We find it easyer to point out the wrong in each other then ourselfs. It is a fact that if we all focused on our own problems and just love'd our neighbor as our self, as the Bible says, there would be no one left to change. You know if you asked anyone in this world what they admire most in a person, you will get the same list: Honesty, Loyalty,Humility, Kindness,ect....you get the point its always the same. Now you ask anyone if you should cross off anything on that list. No one will say you shouldn't be any of those. That is where we take that list and apply it to ourselfs. Some would say isn't that kind of like the fruits of the spirit...and they would be right except, its not fruits its fruit. If an apple is not round, red, crispy, sweet there is somthing wrong with it. Kindness,Patients,Humility, all describe a singuler fruit. If someone has pride in there life they had better get rid of it because it means our soul is drying up, you need to be refreshed.Sorry this post is so long I always seem to lose track of time. Thank you for your post Grant it was inspiring.Hope you are doing well. I pray for you every day. God bless.
